This painting is part of a series which explores moments of joy, beauty and transcendence whilst also hinting at life’s fleeting and fragile nature: the sense of suspended movement speaks of moments of contemplation within the neverending and relentless motion of life. The positioning of leaves in these paintings reflect on our need for community and togetherness.
The imagery was inspired by floating leaves on a body of water combined with the reflection of the clouds, conjuring an other-worldly, hauntingly beautiful moment, suspended in time.
Leaves of pale yellow and pear green with prussian blue shadows float on top of a finely-blended background of prussian and cerulean blue, creating a mysterious landscape where reflections and reality collide.
